Putting On A Show by: Robert Porter ~ Sage Productions

Congratulations! You’re getting married! You and your soon-to-be-spouse have officially declared your love and devotion to each other and are on your way to spending your lives together in perpetual wedded bliss.

But first thing’s first: there’s the wedding.

“Right… the wedding. How do we get that started? How does that work, exactly?”

That’s the tricky thing about weddings. Most of the time, they’re put on by people who’ve never put one together before. It’s a lot like putting on a show for your family and friends, and an extremely important one. You want it all to go perfectly, from start to finish. And when you think about it, that’s almost exactly what it is: it’s a show.

Think about it. There are costumes, there’s a supporting cast, two main lead roles, lines to learn, places and staging, speeches to make, there’s music and lights, props play a big role (rings and a bouquet come to mind,) there are sets to decorate, and a crew working both behind the scenes and in front, doing their various jobs. And that’s not even mentioning food, refreshments, and dessert.

And you’re not only the stars of the show, you’re also the executive producers.

It is a lot to absorb. But here’s the good news: You get to call all the shots, but you don’t have to do all the work.

Remember that crew I mentioned? That team of professionals keeping the show running on time with everything prepared and ready to go on the big day? That’s us. We put these shows on all year long. Some of us are companies that do these shows hundreds of times a year. So really, what’s most important is that you find vendors, venues and DJs who genuinely understand and truly “get” what kind of experience you want to provide for your wedding guests and create for yourselves as well. Wild and crazy or sweet and sentimental, completely traditional or off the beaten path, by-the-book or wholly unique - we’ve done them all, and more. We’re here for you to tell us your ideas and your concepts, and design the plan through the focus of our experience and our know-how. We’ll offer our suggestions and our perspective, warn you about any potential pitfalls, answer your questions, address your concerns, and translate your vision for the day into a producible reality.

And as your DJs, we’re in the unique position of setting the correct tone for the day that you want your wedding to bring. We can address the crowd, make the announcements, introduce you and your spouse for the grand entrance, manage any slideshows or presentations you’ve arranged, keep the show running, and of course, provide the musical entertainment, and keep your crowd dancing. And we’ll help you manage the timeline in the planning process to accommodate it all into the best version of the show that you have in mind.

Like I said, it is a lot to absorb. But it’s so much easier to manage when you hire the right people, the ones who will work not just for you, but with you and bring the wedding you see in your mind into reality for your friends and family, and just as importantly, for you, the stars of the show. ~ Robert, Sage Productions
